At GtG (Grease the Groove), we believe your fitness journey should be private. We design our app to store your data locally on your device and collect only the minimum diagnostic information necessary to keep the app working reliably.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

Your workout routines, exercises, scheduled notifications, workout history, and personal records are stored locally on your device in a private SQLite database.

We do not require an account, email address, password, or profile to use the app. Your workout history never leaves your device unless you explicitly export a backup file.

2. Anonymous Usage Analytics (PostHog)

To understand how features are used and improve app performance, GtG collects aggregated, privacy-preserving usage metrics via PostHog (hosted securely in the European Union).

What is collected: Generic app interactions (e.g., routines created, sets logged, pages viewed, app opens), operating system version, and device model.
What is NOT collected: Names, email addresses, phone numbers, location data, or contact lists.
User Control: You can completely disable usage analytics at any time directly in the app’s Settings > Privacy.

3. Crash Reporting and Diagnostics (Sentry)

We use Sentry to capture crash reports and unhandled exceptions so we can quickly diagnose and fix stability issues.

What is collected: Technical stack traces, error messages, device model, operating system version, and basic performance traces. In release versions of the app, text and images are masked in any captured crash diagnostics to protect your privacy.
User Control: You can disable crash diagnostic reporting in the app’s Settings > Privacy.

4. Notifications and Permissions

GtG requests permission to send you local push notifications for your scheduled exercise reminders. All reminders are generated and scheduled entirely on your device using local system alarms. No external push notification servers are used.

5. Data Backup and Export

GtG includes a built-in backup and export feature. You can export your workout history as a JSON file at any time. You are in full control of where that file is shared or stored.
